Why are they Called Terriers?

When Tibetans came to England they were classified as terrier because of their size. Now Terrier Group consists of dogs bred to hunt vermin from the ground. Thus the Tibetan Terrier is now classified in the Non-Sporting group.

Are they easy to train?

Tibetans are very quick learners, but can learn to avoid doing things just as quickly. TT's are self reliant and have a very independent state of mind. The key to successful training is earning their love and respect.

Are they easy to take care of?

The TT adopts to the lifestyle of it's owners. They must be groomed on a regular basis.

Are they good with children and strangers?

Tibetans tend to be more playful with those they are familiar with. Their demeanor towards others depends on how they were exposed as a puppy. If a TT doesn't feel social it will just walk away.
